Howdy friends, Excess here for your Spring 2017 update and gallery.
Boy, what a spring. As I traipsed in to purchase my sportsman’s pack I had visions of filling each of these Idaho tags in my hand! Spring bear, spring turkey, so many great options that I was looking forward to!
While I did make it out Steelhead fishing a few times and found that to be great fun, bear and turkey will have to wait.
My applications are in for fall draws, and this spring has been a very interesting and high water year here in the Gem state. Fishing has been far from consistent. There have been some high points and some very low points sometimes from one minute to the next.
We have both been running ragged this spring with work, and other family obligations!
For a lack of exciting stories, enjoy some photos of my limited spring exploits.
The Chukar season was cut short by the massive snow pack and accessibility issues. Adding to this there were game well-being concerns. While I likely could have gotten in to track those devils down, I felt as though they had been dealing with enough trouble trying to find food.
As always, I have some new gear in the mix with these photos. I have had great success with the customer service provided by Bucks Bags here locally on a new and still unused chukar vest (not pictured), and from my friends over at Fenwick fishing. I somehow broke two rods this spring, one through direct fault of my own, and the other remains a mystery. Both these companies get a thumbs up from me for how the treat their customers!
Enjoy the gallery.
